I am British but worked ten years in France and we still have a house and pay taxes there. Our son was also born and did his first 9 years of school there. All this I think gives me the right to an opinion about the country!! Maybe the elite would not agree!!!

I have lots of very good French friends, but politicians are not among them!!

Great plot for a book or film. But I guess the publisher/producer would regard the story line as so utterly implausible that it wouldn’t fly.

for one totally agree to all the above. We have not had a prime minister with real balls since Margaret Thatcher who was never at all afraid to express her views and keep on fighting Britain’s corner until we got our rebate in the first place (imagine if the likes of Callaghan or Foot were in power at that time, we would of gone straight to the cleaners!)

I do believe there is a way out of this and by the looks of things (judging how the last meeting went in Brussels last week) the Germans are fed up with being the one everyone is turning to take on the burden as a guarantor of Europe’s debt and single currency. This may in a strange twist of events finally lead to a stronger Anglo-German alliance as supposed to the dominate Franco-German alliance which was dominanting the community.

Chris, the next General Election is due in 2015 not 1915. That was when the first World War was being raged in Europe. Perhaps you are still in that century!!!
